The Triangle Model for Breakthrough Teams

Building a Breakthrough Team is an intricate endeavor that necessitates unwavering commitment and deliberate action. The Triangle Model serves as a blueprint rather than a rigid recipe, providing essential ingredients that can be arranged and prioritized based on immediate needs. As a collective, your team will determine which triangle belongs in the middle and, then, how you will address each additional component. The success of your journey hinges on your dedication to each other and to every aspect of the model.

If you are looking for a book to support you as you define and sustain strong team culture, Blue Trail Breakthrough is the book for you. Even after having coached for over 20 years, this book reminded me to continually develop, learn, connect and grow as a coach. The perfectly placed questions and points of introspection throughout the book are extremely effective as you travel a path with Maria as she leads Camp Blue Trail through her first year as the camp director. Having perspectives from a director, members of a leadership team and camp counselors throughout the book demonstrate the effectiveness of focus, communication, accountability and trust within an organization or team from many points of view. The themes of culture, leadership, expectations, development, growth and fun are woven throughout the story effectively to help the reader understand these key concepts while seeing it unfold in Camp Blue Trail. I highly recommend this book!

As the CEO of a charter school management organization, I am always on the lookout for resources that truly empower our school leaders and their teams. Blue Trail Breakthrough is poised to be an invaluable asset in this quest. The authors’ deep understanding of the core components of successful teams—trust, focus, communication, engaging with tension, and accountability—is apparent throughout the book. What sets this book apart is its blend of theory and practice. It doesn’t just outline concepts, but it provides actionable strategies and practical steps that our school leaders can implement immediately. The section on engaging with tension, in particular, stands out as an invaluable tool for school leaders. It offers insightful approaches to navigating conflict constructively, helping teams address challenges and emerge stronger. Blue Trail Breakthrough is more than a leadership fable; it’s a hands-on guide that will undoubtedly enhance our team dynamics and operational effectiveness - which ensures our student’s academic success. I am confident that it will serve as a crucial tool for fostering a high-performing and resilient leadership team in our schools.
